Abstract

Oil palm fronds are organic waste that is abundant and very easy to find in the community. The waste has the potential to be used as raw material for making environmentally friendly organic printer inks that have high value and usability. The printer ink manufacturing is begun by the carbonization process (composing) to obtain organic pigments that are used as raw materials for printer ink. This process is carried out at a temperature of 200-3000C using a arbonization equipment for 2 hours. The next process is screening using a T500 filter, then a simple mixing process using alcohol and gum arabic. Then the ink produced from
this processes will be tested for viscosity using an Ostwald viscometer, transmittance test using a lux meter, adhesion test using the method Cross-Cut Tape Test, FTIR, density test and product testing using a brand printer. HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1115. The results showed that the composition of 4 grams of carbon mass with 5 mL of alcohol and 3.5 grams of Arabic gum adhesive in 20 mL of distilled water produced the best printer ink that approached Indonesian National
Standard (SNI) Number 06-1567-1999 and SNI ISO 2846-2-2017 regarding Color Graphic Technology and Printing Ink Transparency, the density value of 0.9-1 g/cm3
, the viscosity of 1.12 cP, and the light intensity level of -15 lux.
